Here We Are Going To Do Bank Fishing With Catfish Rigs

  •           Now we are going to look into bank fishing with catfish rigs. There are many rigs for catfish out there. Here we are going to look at catfish rigs from bank fishing. Just the bass fishing being popular, so is catfish fishing. When our fishing along the banks is where we do all of our fishing, these are some great catfish rigs just for that.

The High-Low RigHigh-Low Rig

  •           The high-low rig has a heavyweight on the end. Two lines with hooks that swivel. This rig is great for keeping the bait off the bottom and in the current. When bank fishing with catfish rigs this high-low rigs works well in the surf so this is the rig to have. Now you can find these rigs in all sizes and remade at your tackle store. Having the two hook lines double the chances of hooking two fish. And this allows us the chance to use two baits at the same time. This rig does not do well in snaggy areas.

Bank Fishing With Catfish Rigs–Live BaitLive Bait Rig

  •           The live bait rig. We have our weight that holds the line down and then our bait and a float on top. This live bait is able to swim around attracting the fish. Now we do this by placing a bead on each side of the swivel and locking it. Here we are our height of able to pick live bait our height of our live bait as well.

Here Is The Float RigFloat Rig

  •           The float rig. Our line sits at the height of the float. When the line is to light we can add some split shot weight to the line. Using the float keeps our bait off the bottom and at the height of the fish. We can also use live bait too. This allows us to move around and fish at different spots. It can also flow with the current of the water. There are all kinds of sizes and shapes of floats.

The Pulley Rig Is NeatPulley Rig

  •           The pulley rig is neat. We have a swivel on the main line. Then the hook and the weight is on same line. So here we put the hook onto an impact shield just above the weight. This keeps the hook and weight from tangling up with each other. You can adjust the hook line to any length we would like the hook from the bottom. And we can cast this rig much farther.

The Break-Away Rig Is EffectiveBreak Away Rig

  •           The break-away rig. It is used for a snaggy bottom. The hook stays off the bottom and the line connecting to the weight is weaker. So if we snag the weight, the lead line will break off and we do not lose all the rig itself. It is used with fast moving water and rocky bottom. The line connecting to the weight is to be strong enough to not break-away during casting and1/2 the strength of the main line.

This Rig Speaks For Itself-Fish Finder Rig

  •           The fish finder rig. This is a great bank fishing catfish rig. The fish finder rig works great for fishing on the bottom. There is a weight that slides on a main line with a bead, a swivel and a leader hook. There are various ways to rig these. You can go with a slider and attach the weight to it. The slider rig is good for swapping out various weight if fishing in a river. It is helpful to [put a knot on top of the swivel to prevent the weight from jamming. Using a fish finder rig helps to set the hook into the fish. Using a circle hook is where the fish sets the hook.

Here Is The Santee-Cooper RigSantee-Cooper Rig

  •           The santee-cooper rig. This rig is made for dragging bait on the bottom. We use this rig when fishing for big catfish running on the bottom. There is a stationary weight with a swivel, an inline float bottom and a hook. So the weight drags on the bottom and prevents the hook from snagging. We can buy the floats remade at our tackle store. On the lead to the float we can pick our own length. Now the more lead puts the hook higher from the bottom.

When Bank Fishing

  •           When bank fishing we can use a float marker to check the depth of the water before fishing if we chose too. We pick a spot. Then we can use a piece of wood that fits across our spot on the bank. Now weigh down both sides of the wood to hold it down We now can use the piece of wood as our rod holders. We can pick up some industrial ties at a hardware store. We tie our poles onto the wood. And do not forget to set our drag to max. Now we will need some bite alarms to set on each poles. We can order online or pick some up at the tackle store We are good to go.
  •           Blue gill is a great bait to use on bank fishing with catfish rigs

Bass Fishing In Winter Months, Can We Catch Any Fish?

  •         Bass fishing in the winter months is where we are fishing with the fewer bites in the whole year. And this can be possibly be bigger bites for bigger bass. A location can make a difference. We look for sunny spots as well as the temperature outside too. Later in the day is where the temperature is higher.          With these conditions the bass will move into shallower waters too. We wait for our bait to fall to the bottom. Reel up the slack in the line Slowly, then hop it. This is important in the winter. By jerking the pole the line movement scares the fish.

Crankbaits Work Well In The Winter MonthsLiplesssCrank Bait

  •           Crankbaits work well with bass fishing in winter months. Like the jerk bait, we use the pause. When the crankbait smacks something, we Pause long and reel slowly. We use chose a thin body and a narrow bill for the crankbait
  •           Working with lip less crankbait we are slower to reel up, which allows it to drop deeper and stay deeper. We rig it up and let it fall. The lip less crankbait is a good search bait.

Other Baits That Work Good In The Winter MonthsDrop ShotJerk Bait

  •           We can do bass fishing in winter months and use a drop shot. Here is where we want to shorten our weight to 1 or 2 or 3 inches from the hook. Now the bass is going to be sitting on the bottom due to the cold and we will get more bites from lowering the weight. Now with it sitting on the bottom, we just drag it. The bass are not going to be moving mush so we don’t need much action. It sets right in front of the bass. We do not shake the line on a drop shot.
  •           The jerk bait is a real good in winter months bait. With jerk bait we twitch, titch and let the bait sink. Do Not Reel In The Slack. We stop the pause longer. We do everything slowly. Staying at the bottom is important.

What The Large Swim Bait And Spinner Bait Can doLarge Swim BitSpinner Bait

  •           Large swim baits work good, just like the spinner baits. Now here is where the swim bait does well in clear waters. We are able to move slower with the swim bait.
  •           Spinner baits excel in winter months in the cold water. Bass fish go to the deep parts or near rocks or rock ledges or where its warmer at the bottom. Moving the spinner bait slower is more effective in cold waters. Now the spinner bait is poor in clear waters.

Shaky Head Works For Bass Fishing In Winter MonthsShaky Head

  •           The weighted head sits on the bottom which allows the soft plastic body to lightly move around as it drags slowly. Leave it sits more then the dragging. This works well in the cold waters.
  •           We can use jigs too. On jigs, we pick blue and bl ack on the colors. Also, we go with a crawdad on the bottom. Here again, we slowly drag it. This is important.

We Still Can Fish In The Winter Months

    •           One more thing when it comes to fishing for bass in the winter months. We want to use a low stretch line is recommended because the slow moving of the bait on the bottom. And the depth to feel the line. We can hold a finger on the line to feel a reaction sooner. The bass are moving slow or not at all in the cold water
  •           Feel free to leave a comment or questions. I will response back to them. Thank you

We Went Out To Find Some Best Crappie Fishing Jigs

  •           I have been writing posts on Bass fishing. So I thought I would look into another type of fish for this post. I found Crappie fishing to be popular with the local folks. Let’s look into some Best Crappie fishing jigs.

Some Basic Information We’ll Need to Know

  •           Fishing in the right depth, right color, right speed means Crappie. We start out with a variety of colors and shapes of jigs
  •           Water color plays a part in determining the crappie feedings. Crappies go by seeing the food. If they do not see it, they will not eat it.
  •           They say fish see a variation of colors in waters and brightness of levels. This may be why fish no longer go after a color that was biting and no longer are. Now plain waters, we use clear jigs. Poorly lit or muddy waters, we use illuminated jigs with non lighted combo jigs.
  •           Now for casting, we use jig-n-bobber method This is where we fasten the jig anywhere 12in to 48in below the float. We are aiming for the jig to be a bit higher from the fish. We can also just drop the line to the depth, reeling it up slowly. Now let’s find the best crappie fishing jigs

The Marabou Jig

Marabou Jig
Fishing Jigs
  •           There is the Marabou jig. It is a long known jig for crappie. The marabou jig is a jig that comes in all colors, shapes and sizes. Some have a buck tail and Cherill on it’s collar. Typically, 1/8 oz works good in the spring and summer. And 1/64 oz. works good in the winter. This sounds like the best crappie fishing jig already. This jig is versatile that fishes any heights, alone or a double rig, or bobber. The Marabou jig is cheap and to keep on hand. We find the chartreuse, yellow and white colors work well.

The Plastic Jig    Soft Plastic And Colors Bodys And Jig

  •           Here we have the ball or bullet head jig. It is just any jig with a plastic curly tail. There is a two tail minnow body that slides from the hook up to the head. These jigs can be changed on and off for a different look. The best working jig is called “Shad” and “Grub”. Here the colors white, chartreuse, yellow and white colors are good.

A Life Like Jig

  •           With this jig head it is placed inside of the plastic body. It has a life like look to it. Now this jig works good with slow crappie. I don’t know, this one is the best crappie fishing jig too. Also, with slow bites too. Use these jigs in any depth, singly, a double or bobber. We use 1 1/2 to 2 in size. Our color is white, yellow and chartreuse.

Other Styles Of JigsInline Spinner

  •           Crappie bites with jigs. We have some inline spinners, size 1 or 2. These are good for ponds and lakes. Now we can go with a 1  1/2 blade bait or a lip less crank bait 1 inch. There’s crank bait’s, minnow style, Long and slender profile. No more than 2 inches for deeper waters and smaller bill for shallow water.

This Sums It Up

  •           The research on the best crappie fishing jigs didn’t offer as much as I thought I would find. These are the best ones I could find. It does show crappie fish are popular. I did learn more about crappie fish.
  • How about you? Check out this instant crappie catching tricks E-kit.
  • Feel free to leave a comment or questions or a experience. I will respond back.

Let’s Look Into Some Big Bass Fishing Tip’s

  •             Every time I write a post, I get excited about the subject of fishing. I’m always learning new ideal’s about fishing. I hope you get excited too about fishing from learning new idea’s. Let’s look into some Big Bass fishing tip’s.Boy Fisherman At Sunset

Does Noise Have An Affect When Fishing

  •            Now here is another big bass fishing tip. Noise is a contributing factor while fishing. The older fish are loners. Older fish respond to noise quicker and will stay down. They also avoid the bait too. The older fish pick up on boat motors and peoples voices as well. They are in “red flag” stage. So we want to be going slow when a boat. And we sure don’t want to be driving our boat over the spot we want to be fishing.
  •            We will need to have a strong pole and a reel with 17 lbs or higher, that casts a good distance. Farther the line goes, the less noise there is for the fish out there. This is a Big Bass fishing tip worth hearing about. The Fisher Women

Weather Conditions

  •               Cloudy conditions work well for catching big bass. Now on these cloudy days before a storm, it triggers feeding. And the day after its hard to get the fish to eat. Early morning and nighttime is also a good time to go fishing. When we are expecting rainy weather and its raining is a good time too. The weather change impacts when the Big Bass are biting because of the air pressure dropping.
  •                  November thru March is the prime time to be catching Big Bass. Now November is the month to be catching that trophy fish. Now that’s a Big Bass fishing tips.
  •                 The sun plays a role too. When the UV index is low you will find fish in the shallow waters. When the UV index is high it causes shadows and the fish stay in pockets.
  •                  Winds disguise the bait and we can use a bigger bait. In dingy water we can use the color white for baits and even rattlers to grab their attention.Fishing In The Rain

Where The Big Bass Are

  •                    We want to be looking around boat docks, areas where rocks become sand and weeds become hydrilla. These are the places we want to be fishing for big bass

Here are just a few baits. A key one to catching a big bass is a long 12in slender soft plastic worm. Those big bass like to sit in the pockets of the grass, brush or wooded spots and the worm can get to those spots. One Big Bass fishing tip is we are fishing for those 3-5 big bites.Fisher Man

Here Are The Popular Baits

  •                   Buzz baits. Here we will run a black horny toad on the buzz bait. Buzz baits are running on the top of the water showing that it is in distress by making a lot of noise. It may appear to the fish that the bait is large, running across the water and gets the attention of Big Bass.
  •                    Swim baits catch Big Bass. Here is another Big Bass fishing tip, Big Bass go after big bait. Swim baits can be used in dingy waters. Its best time for a swim is in late fall to mid spring is prime. It is a big bait about 7 inches and bigger.
  •                    Hollow body frog. Go with black bottom or a natural. This is a big meal for a Big Bass. Top water bait. This is a walk the dog style bait. Top water bait draws the Big Bass on calm waters.
  •                   Squarebill crank bait. This crank bait deflects off the rocks. We go with black and red. This is a search bait, its looking to be hit by Big Bass. When fishing with a crank bait is to reel fast and bounce off everything. The good times to fish this bait is fall and spring.
  •                    Jigs have been known for catching Big Bass for some time now It can look like a craw fish when the trailer is on. The football jig has been known for catching Big Bass. We work this bait slow, dragging it on the bottom.
  •                    Spinner bait can be used all year round. We go with black and red We drag this along the bottom.Rod And Spinner Reel With Soft Plastic Rig

I Hope We Have Found Big Bass Fishing Tips

  •                     I hope we have learned some good fishing tips. . I have been able to use the information from all of these posts and apply it with my fishing. Of course, I was excited about learning more about fishing. I don’t feel so much in the dark. I hope you have enjoyed the post. Feel free to leave a comment.

Can I Learn From,” Bass Fishing For Dummies”.

  •                Hello. I have been looking over different kinds of tackle. For several years now I have been just using soft plastic fishing lures for bass, as well as live bait. Now during those years I thought I had been using rigs….LOL. All of this learning has gotten me excited. I can not wait too go fishing and try out some tackle. So can I learn from,” Bass Fishing for Dummies”?

How To Cast A Spinning Reel/Pole

The Correct Way To Hold The Pole And The Drag Is On Top Of The Reel
The correct way to hold the pole and the drag is on top of the reel.
The Incorrect Way To Hold The Pole
The incorrect way to hold the pole
The Correct Way To Hold The Line And The Bail Pulled Up To Cast The Line
The correct way to hold the line and the bail pulled up to the cast line
  •              With a spinning reel/pole we hold the line with the hand that we are holding the pole. Then we lift the bail, the half metal ring around the line. The dial on the top of the spinning reel is the called the drag. Now when we throw the line out, we will throw from the side and let go of the line about half-way as we swing too the side. To hold a spinning reel/pole, we place our index and middle finger on the top of the reel handle. And the other two fingers on the bottom of the reel on the pole. Two fingers on the top and two fingers on the bottom. We can use our preference on holding the reel/pole.
  •             Now we use our index finger too hold the line. We do not want too use all of the hand too hold the line. What this does, it effects our distance and target area. Now we use our other hand too lift our bail up from the reel. We want too give ourselves about a 1/2 foot of line from the tip of the pole too the top of our bait. This helps us too get a good cast. After we make our cast, we use our other hand on the handle too close the bail. This stops the flow of the line going out and prevents looping which knots up the line.

The Different Casts

  •               There are three different casts. The Roll cast, we make a circular motion from the side of us and release too our target area. The Roll cast can be used for skipping our bait. The Overhead cast, we hold the pole over our shoulder and cast too our target area. The Side cast, now a lot of people use the side cast. We use the other hand and put it below the reel on the handle of the pole. This gives us balance and control. If the line goes up high, we released too early with our index finger. If the line goes too the ground, we released too late with our index finger. Now this it what I’m talking about. This ” Bass Fishing For Dummies” is not such a bad thing.

Using A Texas Rig Works Well In Catching Bass

Wide Gap Hooks No.3-No.4
Wide gap worm hooks No.3-No.4 size
Texas Or Wacky Rig
Pumpkin green worms. Can use for Texas Rig or Wacky Rig Sinko
Split Shot Weights
Split shot weights No.7

    •                 We want too use a medium spinner pole with 8lb line for light casting. We also need three colors of straight tail soft plastic worms. Here are the colors for the types of water. Clear: green, red, and brown. Foggy: bright green and yellow. Muddy: black and blue. And now a wide gap worm hooks [No.3 or No.4] and a smaller split shot weight No.7.
    •                Now for an easy catch we will use a Texas Rig. We are going too set up our pole using a light hook, split shot weight and a soft plastic worm according too the color of the water. We start with the hook. We will now tie the hook the hook on the line. Now we put on our split shot weight. [we can start out with just one. Put the split shot weight 1/2 foot from the hook. We use pliers too squeeze the weight on the line. Hey, maybe I can learn from,” Bass Fishing for Dummies”.
    •               Lets take our soft plastic worm and place the hook in the middle of the worms head and slide the worm up and onto the bend. Now take the worm and twist it up onto the eyelet of the hook. We want the worm too be straight. Now we place the tip of the hook into the worm where the tip of the hook barely comes out the other side of the worm.

Let’s Put Our Line In The Water

    •               We want too find a spot that is shallow, grassy, brush or wooded along the bank. It works real good in grass.
    •               We are going too set the drag 1/2 on. Now we make a good long cast that we whip the pole. We wait for the line too sink and stop. Then we slowly move our pole too the right or left till we feel the rig touch on something. Now we reel the line as we move the pole back where we started. We move the line with our pole, not reeling too feel the line.
    •              When we get hung up on something, we just give the pole a quick snap. When we get a bite, it works better yanking the pole too the side instead of yanking the pole straight over our head. Now we may have too change the color of the worm if we are not getting any bites.

    Here’s Another Easy Method

    •                Here we going too use a Wacky Rig Sinko. Now, here we can use an o-ring too hold the hook. Or they now sell a weedless hook that works well. We will need too pick up a soft plastic Wacky lure. They are green and look like a worm [no tail]. We are going too be bank fishing. We will cast along the bank in too weeds, brush or wooded spots. Now let it sink for a couple of seconds. Then twitch, twitch the pole and let the soft plastic Wacky rig sink and repeat. The Wacky Rig is good for bass.

    Now We Can Go Fishing

        •               Did you learn as much as I did? Boy I think I can pass the test,” Bass Fishing for Dummies”. Once again, I have learned new things about fishing. How about yourself? Yes we are in winter but, I’m learning that we can still go fishing. How about it, let’s go try! Feel free to leave a comment. Click here to view rods and reels.

Soft plastic fishing lures for Bass is so versatile when fishing

The soft plastic fishing lures for bass remains a popular way to catch bass. This sounds like a lot fun finding out. I can’t wait to find out other ways to fish for Bass.

The Texas Rig Texas Rig

  •           This is one of the easiest soft plastic lure. It protects the hook point inside of the plastic so it can be used through cover without snagging. This rig allows us to get into hard to reach places like grass, lay down trees, standing trees, bushes and rock for casting.

Rigging the Texas Rig

  •            We put a bullet weight on the line and tie up the line to the hook. Now for thick cover we can use a heavyweight. For open water we use a lighter weight. So we can feel what the soft plastic lure is doing on the bottom. Also, it helps it to go over cover. There is a peg we can attach to pin the weight to the soft plastic lure, but not for casting.
  •           We pierce the soft plastic lure in the center of the head onto the hook. Now feed the hook through the soft plastic lure and back out of it after an 1/4 in. Then push the soft plastic lure on the hook and over the bend of the hook. Now twist the soft plastic lure around, up over to the end of the eyelet of the hook. Arrange the hook on the eyelet so it lines up and straight out from the eyelet.
  •              With the soft plastic lure straight, look where the tip of the hook is to the soft plastic lure. Place the tip of the hook into the soft plastic lure just were the tip of the hook is about to pierce out the other side of the soft plastic lure. Now our soft plastic lure should be straight from the eyelet to the tip of the hook.
  •                We need to look to see if there is enough gap between the soft plastic lure and the shank of the hook. If the soft plastic lure is to thick, we may need to change our hook. The wide gap is for piercing space and room for the soft plastic lure to clear the hook point.

The Carolina RigCarolina Rig

Rigging the Carolina Rig

  •             The Carolina rig is similar to the Texas Rig with the hook tip inside the soft plastic lure. Now the weight is set apart from the soft plastic lure with a leader and a swivel and a bead to protect the knot. It gives the soft plastic lure more freedom of moving when dragged through the bottom of large areas.
  •             The Carolina rig is an effective rig for soft plastic fishing lures for bass. This rig covers a large area of water quickly with it being a soft plastic fishing lure.
  •              Keep in mind if rigging a larger soft plastic lure, we want to use a larger hook for a wide gap from the shank of the hook to the soft plastic lure.
  •              We now tie our hook to a leader of line. Just for the sake of a rule of thumb, we will put the leader 1 ft to 2 ft. Keep in mind a fish can move the soft plastic lure and with our weight sitting on the bottom creating slack.
  •               After we tie our hook to the leader, we slide the weight up the line, then tie it to a swivel. Now we attach the leader to the other end of the swivel.
  •               There is those that will tie a bead to cover the knot from the weight. Keep in mind, some beads can cut the line. We can change our weights and leader lengths to give the soft plastic lures a different action.

The Drop Shot RigDrop Shot Rig

Rigging The Drop Shot Rig

  •                 The Drop Shot rig seems to be the most used for pressured bass. The clear water bass find them to be appealing. Here we have the weight at the bottom and it’s hook up the line where the soft plastic lure is off the bottom. It’s fished vertically or in targeted deep waters.
  •                  The Drop Shot now has hooks with swivels which seems to work quite well nowadays. We tie a hook with a 13 to 17 in tag end and this will make the soft plastic lure stand out.
  •                   Now for the weight. We can go with the bell weight or the Drop Shot weight with a clip. Be sure to tie a knot on the end of the line.
  •                    Now for the worm. When we put our worm on, we can go under the chin to and out the nose. We also have the option to go with the Texas rig style.
  •                     Here we have options again with our leaders and weights. We can change the lengths of the leader, from the soft plastic lures, to the weights. Also, we can use different sizes of our weights too. We can go with 4-6 in soft plastic fishing lures for bass, as well as our hooks from No. 6 to No.1.

The Wacky RigWacky Rig

  •                   The Wacky Rig presents a lifelike fall and a twitching motion that works in shallow and deep water.

Rigging The Wacky Rig

  •                   We can wet the o-ring or the soft plastic lure we want to put the o-ring on. They say the Wacky rigging tools works well. We want to place the o-ring close to the middle of the soft plastic lure.
  •                    Now we want to place our hook under the o-ring snug. We want it to stay in place as we fish our target spots.

The Neko RigNeko Rig

  •                     Like the Wacky Rig, the Neko Rig uses a hook under the o-ring. What makes this different is the weight placed inside of the head. It gives a stand up and looks like it’s feeding on the bottom. It also can catch pressed bass.

Rigging the Neko Rig

  •                      Here we can wet the o-ring or the soft plastic lure we want to put the o-ring on. Here again, we want to place the o-ring close to the middle of the soft plastic lure. Now we place our hook under the o-ring.
  •                       Now we place a nail or a nail weight in the head of the soft plastic lure facing down, away from the hook point. This is important or we won’t hook the fish. We now have a soft plastic lure that’s stands up on the head when we twitch our pole.

This Has Been Fun

  •                           This has been fun learning about some soft plastic lures. I’m excited to just go out fishing in this winter, now that I’m learning
I can fish in the winter! How about you?!? I can tell you one thing, I’ve been using soft plastic fishing lures for bass all this time when I thought they were jigs. LOL. I have enjoyed learning more ways to fish for Bass. I hope you enjoy the post. Feel free  to leave a comment.

I just love using jigs for bass fishing

Hello. I get excited when it comes to fishing! I have been wanting to get more versatile with fishing. Bass is my favorite. So I’m reading up on using jigs for bass fishing.
There are jigs for all seasons for fishing. From the cold temperatures to warm temperature.
The skirted jigs function well in these conditions. You can trim the skirt and thin the weed guard. Some say stretch  the weed guard just to widen it.
They say these things help in winter when fishing for Bass

Football JigsFootball Jig

  •               The football jig is for casting or dragging. You cast it out and let it sink to the bottom and drag it back. What you are trying to imitate is a crawfish.
  •                 We need to pick out our colors. We can go with brown, green and black-blue.
  •                   Now to chose the trailer. Do we go for ‘to-kick’ or ‘to-don’t kick’. With a dragging jig, we don’t need something with ‘a lot of kick’. For a less kick, a beaver style bait trailer works.
  •                   You can take 1/4 off the top so its flat on the trailer. It’s shortens the legs up on the hook. You can then trim the jig up some for trailer legs to work.
  •                    We want to check the weed guard to see if it comes down to the end of the barb of the hook. If is longer, we trimmed it up. With these jig you can reel it in real slow. We can go with black jig and green trailer in the muddy waters.
Now we are using jigs for bass fishing

Swim jigs / Finesse jigsSwim Jig/ Finnes Jig

  •                        Swim jigs is a lot like a spinner bait but it does not have a spinner bait blade on it. It typically has a shad shaped head on it . And has a vertical line tie so it cuts thru the cover really well.
  •                          Finesse jig is just a downsized small jig with a light wire hook. They are typically a round ball head. The skirt has been trimmed down and there is half a skirt.

Flipping jigs / Casting jigs

Flipping Jig

Casting Jig

  •                     Flipping jig has got a vertical line tie, but the lead is molded around the line tie. It’s a jig you can get down into heavy cover. Fish it with a heavy pole and heavy line.
  •                      Casting jig is where you basically cast out and work it back to you. It is the most versatile jig. An arky head jig is a good one too. It really works well going thru brush.
  •                         Grid iron jig is a football head but it stands up and you get a better bite

Bladed swim jigsBladed Swim Jig

  •                           Bladed swimming looks like a spinner bait head. It fishes like a crank bait. It has a bladed jig on front and vertical line tie. The jig is really good in the grass but not good in wooded.

What am I looking for in all of this

  •                            When using jigs for bass fishing, I need to ask myself these questions.
  •                            What is this jig going to look like when it lands on the floor?
  •                             Where is the hook going to be?
  •                              Where is my trailer going to be?
  •                              What’s the skirt going to do?
  •                               Is it going to get into and out of the cover that’s it is at?
  •                                Is it going to be effective in that cover?
  •                If you are interested in making your own fishing lures, check out this E-book

About Connie

Hello, my name is Connie. I’m originally from California and my main fishing was saltwater. I moved out to Oklahoma in 2003 and had to learn how to fish fresh water. I love outdoor fishing!

My Story

In California we owned a 22ft sailboat, which we did 80% of our fishing. On weekends, we would take the sailboat out at the Ventura marina were we would stay two nights. I have three children who were all a part of these adventures. We would do saltwater fishing and catch from crab’s to shark’s.

Once a year, around New Year’s we would charter a boat to go deep sea fishing. We would go out by the Anacapa Island’s and fish. Of course, we had all the deep sea poles, tackle and gear.

We moved out to Oklahoma in 2003 and they all did fresh water fishing. My kids got into the fishing here and I was getting excited listening to their adventures about the crappie, catfish and the bass,

So I started collecting poles, tackle and gear. I enjoy the bass fishing the most. As my kid’s got older, they were not fishing as much. At one of my job’s, we would take the client’s,in spring, every week fishing. I was blessed to be a part of that. Now I have grandchildren and it’s a family affair again. I even found 4 foot fishing rods for the grandkids! And outdoor fishing equipment as well.

I would like to help others to find the right tackle. I found it hard to find the right lure’s for fish I was targeting. I was going from store to store trying to collect the lures for the different fish I was targeting.  The outdoor fishing stores where in other cities. Shopping online takes all that running around out of the equation. We can plan ahead and spend more time doing what we love.

I would like you to be able get your fishing lures with your fingertips. My experience was I had to go from place to get the fishing lure’s I needed for the fishing I targeted. It is a great adventure fishing. With family or others or alone. I would like to help make that easier. The outdoor fishing gear should be more accessible.

If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out. All the best,

Connie Upton
